Dear Ashley,

My credit card company increased my credit limit by $1,000. What should I do?

When your credit card company increases your limit, it means you have been making your payments on time and your credit score has more than likely increased. While you have more credit to leverage, which is referred to as capacity, should not be utilized and instead just leave it alone. Continue to make all of your payments on time, paying it down to at least 25% of the balance, and eventually pay it off completely. If you must use your card for gas, do so and pay it off right away.
